If you haven’t had a chance to see my paintings at Art in Heat at the Warehouse Art Complex, this weekend is your last chance!
The Warehouse is also hosting several shows for the Fringe Festival, which is wrapping up this weekend as well. So while you’re out catching up on Fringe shows, swing by the closing reception of Art in Heat and meet the artists this Saturday (July 28th) from 7 - 9pm!
The Fringe Festival is also wrapping up this weekend (with several events are at the Warehouse itself), so come on over this Saturday (July 28th) for the closing reception from 7 - 9pm. For directions to the Warehouse, go here.

PREVIEW DRAWINGS
Since I really don't have anything new to say this week, I thought I'd give you a peek at what I'm working on these days. Doing a bunch of sketching and here are a couple of line drawings I think will make it on to canvas soon!

CHOCOLATE JESUS:
If you’ve never experienced SpeakeasyDC, then don’t miss this!
DC's premiere story performance theatre, SpeakeasyDC, presents Chocolate Jesus as part of the 2007 Capital Fringe Festival. What we all love and hate about religion, and how it shapes us, one way or another, is portrayed through the stories of four storytellers: a nice Jewish girl who turns "midget bitch" in a DC jail, a devoted Baptist minister-to-be who goes drag, a confused Argentine teenager who rebels via Jesus, and a young American in Mexico who finds her inner goddess.
Another good reason to go? To see my extremely talented wife (an amazing storyteller) as the confused Argentine teenager who rebels via Jesus. It’s a great story!
Also, here's the postcard I designed for the show.

BEHIND THE SCENES:
So I thought I’d share another example of my work process. Here’s a quick run down:
- I start by brainstorming, usually starting with some theme or idea inspired by anything really, the news, music, a friend’s story, or my story. I might take notes of specific details or color schemes I don’t want to forget and then…
- I do a bunch of really rough thumbnail sketches where I begin working out the composition and then..
- I do a detailed line drawing that I will use as a reference while I paint.

AIH OPENS WITH A BANG:
Big thanks to organizers Scott, Jared, Kate and Mike for doing such a fantastic job of putting the show together, and to Molly Ruppert for hosting it!
If you missed the opening, you still have the rest of July to stop by and check it out. There has never been a show quite like it in DC!
